The Campagna Center is a non-profit organization that empowers children and families with essential resources for success and growth. Since its inception in 1945, The Campagna Center has enriched the Alexandria community through various programs that promote a love for learning among individuals of all ages. Pizzano was selected as the contractor for the renovation of this historic building, with key support from Winstanley Architects & Planners, Orr Partners, Field & Tung Structural Engineers, Capital Engineering Group LLC, Land Design, R.C. Fields & Associates, and ECS Mid-Atlantic LLC.
Pizzano collaborated with the team to transform this circa 1871 school building into a modern facility while preserving its historic character. The building was gutted back to its original brick and wood framing, restructured to include a modern elevator, and had its second floor raised to create more usable space on the first floor. All entrances were modified for accessibility, and the building was outfitted with modern mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Additionally, the site was excavated to create a multi-functional outdoor space.
